There is a particular energy of early autumn and then a shift into the full apex of the season which is exactly where we are now.

Bracken is the largest of our native ferns and the word bracken is of Old Norse origin, related to Swedish bräken and Danish bregne, both meaning fern. I weaved together this restful hour imagining a readying for hibernation and wanted to bring in the energy of The Bear; masters of survival.

Bears enter a state called Torpor, where mental and motor activity is suspended - no dreaming, immune systems shut off - but unlike bears, our bodies are constantly repairing themselves, constantly renewing. Body mind and soul work in synergy to allow us to arrive after a nights sleep restored and replenished. In this hour, we’ll bring the essence of hibernation into our delineated time to rest.
